## How is Engagement Measured? Each platform tracks reader engagement differently. The figures below reflect how each provider counts access to mediastudies.press titles. **mediastudies.press** — Page views of each title’s landing and chapter pages on the mediastudies.press [PubPub](https://pubpub.org) platform. A view is recorded each time a reader loads the page. In addition, PDF and ePub downloads from the site (excluding specific chapter downloads) are added to the tally. **Project MUSE** — Monthly “requests” as defined by the [COUNTER Release 5](https://about.muse.jhu.edu/librarians/counter_stats_information/) standard, which Project MUSE follows. A request is counted each time a chapter or full-book file is successfully retrieved by a user. **Internet Archive** — Monthly views of each title”s page on the [Internet Archive](https://archive.org/developers/views.html). A view counts one engagement per IP address per day—e.g., pressing play, turning a page in the reader, or downloading a file—with automated bot traffic excluded. **Apple** — Monthly units “sold” via Apple Books, as reported by Apple Books Connect and aggregated across all countries. **Google** — Monthly book visits on Google Books as reported in the Google Books Partner Center. A visit is recorded each time a reader views a title’s page or preview. These totals are added to the monthly net units accessed via Google Play Books, as reported in the Partner Center. **OAPEN** — Monthly download requests for each title hosted on OAPEN, processed through the [IRUS-OAPEN](https://irus.jisc.ac.uk/r5/oapen/support/faqs/) infrastructure. **Paperback** — Monthly net units sold via Amazon, as reported by Kindle Direct Publishing.
